In our front yard we have trees, and these trees just don’t stop growing. You cut and prune them every year – and without fail in 12 months they’re back with a vengeance.
Christians are to be like the trees we have in our front yard. Growing, maturing becoming more like Christ each and every day.
And like our trees in the front yard need sunlight and water, Christians need constant feeding from God’s word and encouragement from God’s people. This is why, this year I’m encouraging you to join a growth group.
Why is it called a ‘growth group’?
Growth in christian maturity is the goal of the group.
What do we do at a growth group?
We do the things that God tells us will lead to our Christian growth.
- Read the Bible Together – Most of the time is taken up with reading God’s word in the Bible. As God’s Spirit applies God’s word to our lives – we grow.
- To Pray Together – to ask God to help you as a group live out his word, to pray for others, for our community and our world.
- Fellowship Together – opportunity for a deeper connection with people as you get to know some of your brothers and sisters in Christ much better
Who should join a growth group?
Everyone! New Christian, Older Christian, the one who knows lots and the one who knows little.
Why won’t you join?
The busyness excuse. Life is about priorities. If you don’t prioritise your Christian growth, your Christian maturity, leading your family, evangelising your friends, you won’t grow. Life is busy, work is busy, family life is busy – but I encourage you to evaluate your priorities, be intentional about your walk with Jesus and join a Growth Group.
What do to now?

There will be multiple small groups running this year. We’ll suggest to you a small group that you might like to join based on what you tell us.
